College-level courses for homeschool students ready to earn credit while continuing in a Christ-centered learning community



Journey Together’s dual credit courses give homeschool high school students the opportunity to take college-level classes in a supportive, Christ-centered environment. Students receive structured instruction, meaningful discussion, and academic support while working toward credit through partner institutions.

College Algebra
Wednesdays | 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

Dual credit course through HCC, 3 credit hours
$315/course* (Reno County Residents pay $285)
Instructor: Layne Engweiler
Study equations, functions, inverse functions, complex numbers, determinants, and matrices while building skills for higher-level math. Instruction is supported through Google Classroom with access to assignments and resources.

Western Civilization

Dual credit course through Christian Halls International
3 credit hours
$330/course*
Instructor: David Green
This course focuses on the explicitly Christian character of Western Civilization, and how the cultural, intellectual, and spiritual achievements of the West gave birth to the modern world. This course focuses on the history of its foundational civilizations: ancient Israel, Greece, and Rome. Emphasis is also placed on the development of Western Europe through the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Reformation.

Instructor: Dennis Wallace
This course provides the background, content, unity and progression of the New Testament Scriptures. The student will capture an understanding of the life and ministry of Christ, the development of the Church and the unfolding of the New Covenant.

Meet the Instructors
David Green

David Green was raised in Northeast Nebraska and served for five years in the United States Marine Corps, where he studied Korean and Spanish and worked as a network administrator. He later attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and went on to serve for a year with SEND International in China, where he also taught Western Civilization. After working in the private sector, David entered pastoral ministry and has served as pastor of Plevna Community Bible Church since 2008. He is a Colson Fellow and has been actively involved in teaching, including courses in worldview and writing within a local homeschool co-op. David and his family served as foster parents for over a decade, and he is a certified TIPS-MAPP instructor who helps equip others for foster care.
Layne Engweiler

Layne Engweiler is a Christian, a mother,
and a licensed teacher with nine years of
experience teaching math and science in
public education.
She is passionate about helping students succeed academically while preparing them for future paths including college, trade school, the military, and the workforce. Layne is dedicated to making learning meaningful, accessible, and supportive for a wide range of learners while balancing her work with raising and nurturing her family.
Dennis Wallace

Dennis Wallace holds a Bible degree and a Master of Divinity from seminary. He has served for more than 40 years as a pastor in local Kansas churches, with a strong emphasis on leadership development, evangelism, and the teaching and preaching of God’s Word. In addition to his pastoral ministry, he brings extensive experience from a wide range of ministry settings, including missions, revivals, crusades, and family camps. He is deeply committed to Christ and devoted to faithfully teaching Scripture.
