Year-long, Christ-centered academic courses that help students grow in knowledge, confidence, and preparation for what comes next.



Journey Together’s high school courses are designed to support homeschool students with structured, year-long academic instruction in core subject areas. Students meet weekly for focused classes while continuing their homeschool studies throughout the week with support from instructors, online resources, and class materials. These courses help students build stronger academic foundations, grow in independent learning, and prepare for college, trade school, the workforce, and life beyond high school.

Program Offerings

American History
Wednesdays | 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Sep 9 - Dec 2 and Jan 13 - Apr 7
$200 / year*
Instructor: Joe Mullet
This course surveys American history from pre-colonial times to the present, emphasizing critical thinking, primary source analysis, and historical perspectives. Students explore colonization, the Revolution, Civil War, Industrialization, and major 20th/21st century events while developing civic awareness and examining themes including democracy, civil rights, economics, and global affairs. The course uses a teacher-driven approach with readings from the upcoming Christian Light 11th grade history text, with digital materials provided through the class online platform.

Physical Science
Wednesdays | 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Aug 19-Dec 9 and Jan 13-May 5

Instructor: Layne Engweiler
Using the Apologia homeschool curriculum, students explore topics including atomic structure, chemical reactions, motion, energy, waves, electricity, weather, and Earth science. Through lessons, experiments, and discussion, students investigate the complexity of God’s creation while building foundational scientific understanding over a full academic year.

Algebra I & II
Wednesdays | 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Aug 19-Dec 9 and Jan 13-May 5
$200 / year*
Instructor: Layne Engweiler
This course builds foundational algebra skills through equations, graphing, functions, and problem solving. Instruction combines in-person and virtual learning supported through Google Classroom, online resources, and optional support sessions designed to reinforce concepts, encourage independent learning, and strengthen mathematical confidence.

Meet the Instructors
Joe Mullet

Joe Mullet works as a writer and curriculum developer for the social studies department at Christian Light.
He holds a degree in secondary education in history from Toccoa Falls College and has years of experience in Christian education as both a teacher and administrator. Joe teaches using a combination of in-person and virtual instruction and is passionate about American history and government.
Layne Engweiler

Layne Engweiler is a Christian, a mother,
and a licensed teacher with nine years of
experience teaching math and science in
public education.
She is passionate about helping students succeed academically while preparing them for future paths including college, trade school, the military, and the workforce. Layne is dedicated to making learning meaningful, accessible, and supportive for a wide range of learners while balancing her work with raising and nurturing her family.
